Throughout the two days of the 2012 Learning Technology Show at London’s Olympia REDTRAY conducted live snapshot polls on a range of topics.

Fifty show visitors were selected at random to give their opinion on a particular issue. The results of these instant polls were analysed and then published on Twitter within minutes.

When asked about their plans to introduce tablet devices into the training mix, less than 4 in 10 of those asked said they have got any kind of plan to do so. In fact just over one in three (34%) said they have no plan to adopt the technology. Just under one in three (29%) said they may bring tablets or iPads into the learning mix, but have no firm plans to do so yet.

Another snapshot survey asked where people planned to allocate the majority of their training programme spend in 2012.

Professional development programmes came out on top (18%), followed by management and leadership programmes, and sales training support (both with 14%). Product training was a top priority for 13% of responders, whilst compliance training and IT training were the two areas least likely to be mentioned as priorities for training budget.

The most popular delivery method chosen was on the job training (30%). 27% selected virtual classroom, followed by blended learning, which is the best delivery option for over 20%.

When asked about which learning tool makes the biggest promises but delivers the least benefits, 42% of the 50 people asked chose their HR system. According to the poll, learning management systems or online portals are the least likely systems to underperform.
