More employers looking to have training accredited

Latest figures from NCFE show that ever-increasing numbers of employers are looking to add value to their in-house training programmes by having them officially accredited.

Rob Kindness claims that since he became head of NCFE’s accreditation service early in 2009, the number of employers looking to have their own training courses accredited has increased by 40 per cent.

The news comes two years after the Government made it possible for any employer to become an awarding body in its own right – an option that only the largest employers such as McDonalds and FlyBe have taken up. According to NCFE accrediting internal training schemes, rather than becoming a fully-fledged awarding body, is a more realistic proposition for most organisations.

Kindness said: “We are now seeing more employers than ever looking to ‘kite mark’ their training with official recognition from a national awarding organisation. This leaves those who take part in the training with a recognisable name on their CVs that they can take with them as their career develops.

“NCFE’s Investing in Quality (IIQ) licence services enables us to assess the quality of training and ensure the procedures are all present and correct.”
