As part of its commitment to using the latest technology to support students UWIC, University of Wales in Cardiff, has purchased the Luminosity rapid e-learning development software platform from CM Group.

With the benefits of distance learning becoming ever more compelling, UWIC identified a selection of their qualification curricula which would benefit from introducing elements of distance learning, whether as support materials, modules or as a whole curriculum.  After evaluating the options UWIC selected Luminosity as the ideal flexible solution to their requirement of providing students with a cost effective yet valuable, interactive and engaging online experience.

Luminosity enables learning developers and subject experts to collaborate remotely with each other to design, create, review and test e-learning courses in an environment that is fully managed by a central server. Non-IT specialist staff can create their own e-learning at a fraction of the cost of using external suppliers and deliver high quality results much faster. All courses are automatically SCORM compliant and disability enabled.

Dr. Colleen Connor, Dean of Learning & Teaching at UWIC, said: “We identified that we required a production solution which was easy to use, highly flexible, collaborative and enabled us to create and update our courses quickly and publish them to the highest production standards. We found that Luminosity was the perfect fit, enabling our staff to quickly and easily create interactive and engaging learning materials, and through CM Group’s support we can ensure we meet both our current and future needs”
