Lars Hyland, director of learning services at Brightwave, was one of the speakers at the INGO (International Non-Governmental Organisation) E-Learning Conference 2010 which took place on 17-18 June. His presentation focused on how NGO's can make a real impact with e-learning from a design perspective.

Organised by Oxfam and BOND, the INGO E-Learning Conference was created to help share experiences and hear different approaches to e-learning in the international NGO sector.

Other speakers included Clive Shepherd (chair of the eLearning Network), Jane Hart (founder, Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies) and Martin Baker (director, Charity Learning Consortium).

Hyland said: “With increasingly tighter budgets, e-learning provides a highly effective method of delivering training and education to a wide variety of people across wide geographic regions, with real impact… but only if it’s done well.”

Agencies that took part include Plan, Save The Children, Water Aid, VSO, Merlin, British Red Cross, Oxfam GB, Mercycorps, Fahamu, CAFOD, ACF UK, RedR UK, Engineers Without Borders, MANGO, INTRAC, People In Aid and Bond.
