Dublin’s St. James’s Hospital has launched an online learning resource to support healthcare staff in their continuing professional development.

The hub is the result of the work carried out by St. James’s Hospital in partnership with online learning provider Aurion Learning.
St. James's Hospital is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Dublin and claims a rich culture of learning and development. The learning hub is designed to make it easier for St. James’s Hospital to promote learning and development and easier for employees to access learning and development resources and tools.

Fergus Thompson, learning and development facilitator at St. James’s Hospital said: “Our learning hub gives our 4,500 staff access to a number of features including: a personal development planning workbook, a catalogue of e-learning courses, a resources library, blogs and discussion forums, an events diary and frequently asked questions.”

The hub includes In The Line of Fire, an e-learning programme specifically developed for St. James’s Hub, so staff can complete their annual mandatory fire safety training online. Thompson says the hospital hopes to use the hub to deliver even more mandatory training to staff in the future.

St. James’s Hospital staff can access the hub by logging into the Health Service Executive’s learning and development portal, HSELanD.ie.
