Lightbox Education, a relatively new name in the education market, claims to bring together creative production services, educational software and learning products to create products and solutions which place learners at the centre.

Part of the RM Group, Lightbox Education was created in 2008 by bringing together Softease, 3T Productions and RM's curriculum software division. The focus has been on developing an independent brand featuring the characteristics of its constituent parts - consultancy, design and the capability to produce ICT products and services for learning and teaching.

As well as utilising and developing some existing products, such as Easiteach; RM Maths; SuccessMaker; Textease and Podium podcasting, Lightbox Education is developing a new range of products and services for schools and colleges. Fuse Creator, a digital content creation tool, and Honeycomb, a set of online creative and collaborative tools, were introduced last year with others scheduled for launch in the near future.

Dave Pearson, managing director of Lightbox Education, and former managing director of Softease, said: “It’s all about taking technological advances and tapping into their potential for supporting learning. For example, when we developed our Podium Podcasting product we recognised the potential for podcasting in the classroom and brought to market something that would make use of it.”
